Some readers’ comments
Cindy Vine’s novels are known for their sharp insight on interpersonal relationships. Glynnis Southern
In Stop the world I need to pee! Ms. Vine creates a character who totally represents the modern female of the species. Janet Aston
Not Telling was a great book. I couldn’t put it down, I got sucked in within the first 2 pages. You should definitely read it if you haven’t already. Ashley Fortner
The Case of Billy B, I had tears in my eyes reading this just wanting to hold Billy and show him that there was love in this world and no need for the suffering he was going through. This book is highly recommended, but be prepared for coarse language and sexual content. Reader’s favorite
My passion for writing
My passion for writing stems out of my love for reading. As I tell my students, to be a writer you first need to be a reader. As a child, I was a voracious reader. It was a way to escape from a tricky childhood. I started writing from a young age but only published much later in life. I write the kinds of books I like to read. Books that create movies in my head when I read them.
Living life till the fullest
That’s what I want on my gravestone. ‘She lived her life till the fullest.’ I want to experience as much as possible. The more adventures, the more material for my writing. The experience I’ve enjoyed the most is being a mother to three beautiful children.
I was born in Cape Town, South Africa in …oh yes, never trust a woman who tells you her age as she’ll tell you anything. So let’s just say, it was a long time ago. Way too long ago. I’ve been married (that probably aged me further) and divorced and sold the t-shirts to make extra money to feed my three lovely children.
Some might say I have gypsy blood as I’ve moved around a lot, but really I’ve used my teaching qualifications to teach in different countries and travel the world. I have one of those bucket list type of thingies – a list of things to do and places to go before I die.
For some strange reason, things just seem to happen to me, and this gives me an endless supply of material to write more books. Writing is something I always loved to do from a very young age, and I’ve always been an avid reader. I put my weak eyesight down to all those nights of reading under the covers by torchlight. The teacher part of me will tell you that to be a good writer, you probably need to be a good reader as well. But, enough talk about work-related stuff.
My first book was called Fear, Phobias and Frozen Feet. It’s a non-fiction self-help book about how to break the pattern of bad relationships some of us keep getting into. I got the idea to write that book when I was shafted, yet again, conned, yet again, and had my heart broken yet again, while recovering from breast cancer. I got the idea for my first novel on the train to Shanghai. Amazing what goes through your head on a two hour train journey. Stop the world, I need to pee! introduces you to Fenella Fisher, a very different type of main character, one I feel that many people will be able to identify with. The Case of Billy B was my second work of fiction. In total I have written two self-help books, three children’s books, one young adult novel, one travel diary, one book narrating the paintings by Daniel Quinlan, and six novels.
Life is a series of adventures. Hope yours are all good!
